Created this small xl utility tool for a friend which gives the Current Value of an investment over a period of time based on compounded annual rate of interest or return.

Second tab in this utility does the reverse of it i.e. computes the Compounded Annual Rate of Return for an investment based on invested amount and current value.

Try out yourself!!

Equity linked Insurance Vs Mutual Funds Vs Fixed Deposits

These days lot of private as well as state run companies are selling Insurance as Investment product (they call it ULIP- Unit Linked Insurance Plan) . I believe in most of the cases the insurance agent is very aggressive in selling the policy. This is because he (Insurance Agent) makes lot of money as commission by selling ULIP products and Insurance companies charge high fees for these ULIP products. I believe, In general return from these ULIPs are poor compared to mutual funds. One should opt for good Mutual Funds instead of ULIPs for investment as Mutual funds have less overhead charges and hence returns are better for the investor.

Fixed deposit is good for short term investment. Fixed deposits (FDs) are not recommended for long duration (say more than 3 years) as returns of  FD is almost equal to inflation these days.

You can use this sheet to get an idea of return over period of time. It shows if you invest 1 lac every year for 19 years and let's assume you get a 15% annualized return then at the end of 19th year itself you would be "Crorepati"

Toothpaste: Half Brush is enough

You really don't need more than a pea-sized amount to properly clean your teeth. Most people tend to think that it is necessary to cover the entire brushing surface of a toothbrush.....because that's how they see it on advertisements .

save the soaps

Not sure how many of you throw the remains for small soap bar.......you could actually still use this thin small soap without any hassle ....all you need to do is...
1. Get a new soap
2. Make both soaps wet
3. Put new soap and remaining thin old soap together
4. You will see the old soap would become part of new soap (i.e. it will stick to it) once it gets dry.

Save the Soap...save environment....save money....save man hours....
cheers!!
